Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked most.
When do new puzzles come out?
A new set drops every day at midnight, New Zealand time. All four difficulty levels change over together.
Is there a time limit?
No. There's no ticking clock. Your time is tracked quietly in the background for the curious, but nothing is counting down at you.
Can I play a puzzle I missed?
Not yet. The archive lets you look back at previous puzzles and see their solutions, but you can't currently play or attempt them yourself.
Do I have to hit the exact number, or does getting close count?
Exact only. That's the 'Rigid' in Rigid Digit: there's no partial credit for landing near the target, just off.
Do I have to use all five numbers?
Not always. On Easy, three or four of them is always enough, and on Medium it sometimes is. Hard and Extreme do need all five.
How many puzzles are there each day, and what's the difference between them?
Four: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme. Each is a genuinely different puzzle, not the same one scored differently, and Extreme is specifically built to have only one valid solution, so there's no wiggle room in how you get there.
Is every puzzle actually solvable?
Yes. Every puzzle is checked by a solver before it's published, so if you can't find the answer, that's on you, not the draw.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Free, no ads, no sign-up, ever. Your progress is saved on your own device.
Is there an app, and does it work offline?
It's a Progressive Web App: add it to your phone's home screen and it behaves like one. There's no App Store or Play Store version yet, and it doesn't work offline yet either, you'll need a connection to load each day's puzzle.
Can I sync my stats across devices?
Yes. Open Stats and tap Link your devices to get a code, then enter it on your other device. Your results from both devices are combined, nothing is deleted.
Is this the same as the Countdown numbers round?
Inspired by Countdown's numbers round, but not affiliated with it.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes, from about 8 up. Start on Easy, where the target is always under 100. There's more in our guide for parents and teachers.
